Regardless of the area or finish, with today’s busy lifestyles, easy maintenance is cited as a top priority to homeowners of all ages. It has become a stronger trend when 57% of homeowners cited it as a main reason for moving from an existing home, according to an ASID Aging in Place Survey. The bathroom is one of the most mentioned areas when looking for improvements. Recently we have found a combination of smart + affordable + efficient bathroom options from our friends at Kohler.

Take your shower from ordinary to extraordinary—without remodeling. With Kohler’s HydroRail shower columns, you can transform a standard, single-outlet shower into an unforgettable Kohler showering experience without altering, or even having to access, your in-wall plumbing. Available for both bath/shower and shower-only installations, HydroRail gives you the option of a handshower-only configuration or converting your single-outlet shower into a two-outlet custom shower with a showerhead or rainhead and a handshower. Choose from a selection of KOHLER rainheads, showerheads and handshowers to customize your own personal showering experience.

When it comes to toilets, the trend is moving definitely to comfort-height seats and wall-hung versions for ease of cleaning. Although this trend is still designer-instigated, clients are responding strongly to the many additional options becoming available, including heated and self-closing seats, personal hygiene and dual-flush. Kohler has recently launched a new excellent option for the wall hung styling with its Veil Toilet.

Combining thoughtful design, powerful performance and user-friendly functionality, the Veil wall-hung dual-flush toilet is the first residential wall-hung model offered by Kohler in North America. The Veil Toilet offers the added bonus of being a space- and water-saver. The Veil features a concealed tank and minimal footprint, saving up to twelve inches of bathroom space compared to Kohler’s longest floor models. Additionally, as it is a wall-mounted toilet, the frame brackets are installed behind the wall and the bowl is set at a custom height, anywhere from 15 3/8 inches up to 28 ½ inches.

Other dual-flush options include Kohler’s Dual Flush Technology for their Highline {the comfort-height solution} and Wellworth Toilets. An innovative two-tone flush lever offers the choice of 1.1 or 1.6 gallons per flush; the dual-flush lever is located on the side of the tank like a traditional toilet, leaving the top free for storage. The high-efficiency 1.1-gallon flush reduces water use by more than 30 percent over the 1.6-gallon mode, which adds up to potential water savings of more than 4,000 gallons per toilet, per year.
