Step 2: The Road Map

Once you’ve approved the scope and pricing package, we get to work! The next few weeks will be spent pulling fabrics, samples, and furnishings for your first presentation at the Design Lab. Come in for a cup of coffee while we walk you through our ideas for your new space using our computers, TV screens, and printed copies of floor plans and drawings. This meeting is super collaborative and we want your feedback!

During this presentation we can add more elements, subtract the ones you don’t care for, and reconstruct a plan that fits your style, budget, and timeline.

A few days after the meeting, we’ll provide you with an itemized list of all of the products that we discussed during the presentation. With this list in hand, you can cherry pick which pieces and products you’re in love with, don’t care about, and want more information on.

We like to call this phase of the project the Road Map because it can take several routes depending on the pace you want to go and what we can offer you during that time. Throughout this process we’ll be emailing, calling, and visiting, making sure that our work aligns with your vision until the next step!

We understand that some people love decorating, while others dread it. And that’s okay! For an additional fee, we offer a Merchandising Package. Our design team will feather in your already existing personal items along with the new pieces that were purchased during the ordering stage. This way you know exactly how it all fits together, the artwork is already hung, sheets folded, and all you have to do is sit back and enjoy!

Step 1: Initial Appointment

First and foremost, our designers want to understand your vision. The team will make its way to your home, your office, or your commercial space to get a better idea of your style. This appointment usually takes 45 minutes to an hour and is completely free of charge.

During this time we snap a few pictures, take lots of notes, and get to know you a little better through a casual interviewing process. After we’ve gotten all of the information we need, our team reviews our visit to understand the necessary work involved to achieve your dream look. Once we’ve completed our brainstorming and idea exchanging, we’ll give you a scope and a package price. A scope outlines the components of your project, and the package price confirms your budget and what we can do for you.

We find that the most successful initial appointments are collaborative ones! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out Houzz and Pinterest for images that match your dream scene. We love being able to see the space through your eyes and appreciate all of the inspiration we can get our hands on.

Step 3: Order + Install

As soon as the details are finalized and you decide you want your space taken over by the KKDL crew, it’s off to the races! Our Design Lab goes into ordering mode, making phone calls and sending emails to make sure that every piece you fell in love with during the past phases ends up in your home, office, or commercial space. As exciting as this phase is, please keep in mind that custom pieces can take up to 12 weeks to reach our building. All items are sent to our receiver, where everything is promptly inspected upon arrival.

Once we’ve received all of your pieces, we can schedule a delivery time to your space. For this segment of the installation, we like to have the house to ourselves so we can surprise you with your brand new look!

Step 4: Maintenance + Updates

Once the design bug bites you, it can be hard to stop. For clients that we have serviced before, we offer a special maintenance package to help your next project turn out as beautifully as the last. These additional project prices are based on individual clients and the scope of their new design.

Let us know if this is something you’d be interested in and we can get started!
