As with many American families, the concept of “Food is love.” rang true with mine. Luckily, I was a kid whose mom was waiting to greet me with the perfect after school snack as soon as I walked through the door. We were blessed to sit around the dinner table as a family each night. As my sister and I got older, we also enjoyed wonderful meals out to celebrate family milestones and successes. Straight A’s on our report card always earned dinner at Chuck’s Steak House—an undeniably fantastic memory where the menu was painted on an aged Lancer’s wine bottle and we got to order whatever we desired from it. Weekend trips to grandma’s house were always filled with family food traditions, too. In fact, we still celebrate grandma’s memory through her recipes and innovative menus today. Because of this, I have created a cookbook of our family’s favorite recipes including those from restaurants and friends. So here is the first recipe of many…bon appetite!
