We are always excited to get the request for an interview from our favorite publications! Last month was no different when we heard from Lisa Marie Hart at USA Today Special Publications. She was working on a Tiny Bathrooms + Big Idea segment for the HOME MAGAZINE hitting stands March 25th.
While it is easy to pick up a copy of the magazine—and if you do, our article is on page 78—we have included some of our Kerrie Kelly Design Lab tips below for tackling your bathroom weekend project!
Painting walls or your vanity can be an inexpensive, quick way to update your bathroom space. Use semi-gloss paint to repel moisture and keep cleaning easy, or use paint marked for high-moisture areas if you prefer a matte look. For a cozy look, paint the ceiling the same color as the walls. In this bathroom we used wallcovering in a small space. It would be just as easy to paint stripes for a sophisticated look.
Take advantage of natural light by adding a large scale or decorative mirror to your bathroom. The reflection it provides will make the room appear more spacious. Then simply layer in an interesting light fixture on a dimmer to provide both function and mood to the space.
Changing hardware and bathroom accessories may be the easiest way to dress up a space. Choose drawer pulls in your desired finish to make a statement at the vanity area. Show you pay attention to all the details by selecting coordinating accessories too-towels, rugs, artwork and even your towel ring are easy ways to provide thoughtful design elements to your space.
We also included Delta’s 3-step shower door system from Home Depot that we previously featured on a Good Day Sacramento TV segment to finish the look.
Now that makes for a productive weekend project!
