Let’s Rethink the Restroom

It’s no secret: the bathroom is often one of the last rooms to receive design attention. Some of us try to hide it with cluttered decor passed down from generations, others pretend it doesn’t exist and close the door during any and all home visit. With this in mind we’ve been wondering: should we rethink the restroom? I mean, it is an essential room of the house, probably more essential than our beloved home offices. And if you think about it, you probably spend more time in there than your office anyhow. If you’re like us and wanting to reinvent a lackluster lavatory and even make it a covetable spot, look no further, we’ve laid out the answers thanks to our friends at Villeroy and Boch.

Go to your happy place

We don’t know about you guys, but at the Design Lab our happy place is a gorgeous free-standing bathtub. Maybe it’s too many chick flicks with fun bubble bath scenes or just the romanticism around a good clawfoot, but we think the apex of happiness is a great tub. Thanks to Villeroy and Boch, we have some of the best options in the industry, and boy are they beautiful. We absolutely cannot get enough of their Aveo collection. Not only is it fun to look at, but its made out of their super sturdy patented material to ensure our relaxing mid-week soak is safe and serene.

Serenity in a small space

For those of us that don’t have the space for the added luxury of a bathtub, no need to worry. Villeroy & Boch’s spacious shower design offers all of the luxury that showering could possibly hold: rain shower heads, wide transparent doors, and flush mounting to blend your oasis into the rest of your bathroom. Add pops of spa-like colors and details and your morning shower just turned into a rejuvenating retreat.

Less is definitely more

With Villeroy & Boch’s Levanto Collection we can definitely get behind the minimalist trend. With straightforward design and sophisticated detailing (beveled edging and LED lights!), this collection has captured our hearts and redefined our idea of luxury. If you’re looking to refresh your restroom, we highly recommend this simple, anti-clutter style for a total transformation. Add a few potted plants and a glass element or two for an “I totally do yoga 6x a week” vibe.

If you’re ready to unveil a calm and cool bathroom, we highly suggest using Villeroy and Boch as a reference. With more than 260 years in the design business, their experience in premium European lifestyle design is on the connoisseur side— and that’s a good thing. If your style is modern or classic or semi-traditional (or basically anything else you can think of), Villeroy & Boch have a design that’s perfect for you.
