Every year we gear up for the following season by tapping into our creative side, exploring new design concepts, and creating mood boards to inspire our thought process in choosing which trends to present for the following year. In 2016 we saw a heavy focus on the usage of color in reimagined ways– splashed on walls, upholstered on furniture, and threaded in rugs. We also witnessed a demand for highly graphic goods featuring contoured lines, stark color contrasts, and high-gloss finishes. Between the vivid colors, innovative textures, and evolution toward a well-rounded design year, we’re pleased to begin announcing our latest segment of the #KKDL TrendWatch Series.
Our designers draw inspiration from nearly everywhere. One place we always catch ourselves daydreaming about is High Point market. Though we spot trends throughout the year to prepare for the next season, we can always count on market season to confirm our findings. And this year did not disappoint.
So sit back, grab a note pad and a glass of bubbles, and join us in toasting the interior design trends to look for in 2017.
Blushing Beauty
Combining fresh and feminine blush tones with bold metallic finishes, Blushing Beauty is the embodiment of cool + clean design. This soft yet dimensional pairing has something to offer every trend spotter, from masterfully curated art to graceful patterns dancing on upholstery. We love how easily this combination mingles with other design concepts, like our favorite navy blue sofa or high contrast Lucite tables!

Our inspiration for this 2017 trend comes from travel, fashion, and art. A blush and gold composition offers elegance when presented in a pattern, such as the Lanvin fabric above. Alternatively, this combo works well in a Scandinavian space, like that used in Daily Dream Decor’s image, through minmalist accessories and clean lines. Because these two shades are so light and bright, they play well with other colors, too! The Society 6 abstract art on the far right displays the perfect balance between a bold navy and feminine blush + gold pairing.
