This past month has been full of design installations and we couldn’t be more thrilled, and we just had to share this one with you. The #KKDL team was enlisted to design model homes in Dayton, Nevada at Granite Pointe.
Located 20 minutes from the State Capitol in Carson City and 40 minutes outside of Reno, the Granite Pointe development is located in a beautiful high-desert setting rich in history and rural charm. Curious to know a little bit of our process and the inspiration behind the spaces? Be curious no more! Scroll on to hear what KKDL designer Kasey had to say.
Q: What was the inspiration for the style of the home?
A: Model homes are quite different from designing for a particular client. Every model we design has a theme and we always strive to do something new and fresh with each one. These models were very similar in size so it was really important to make them stand out from one another. With one very neutral, sophisticated palette and one much more playful and full of bright colors, I think we did just that!
Q: What was the client’s biggest ‘ask’?
A: The builder asked that we design these with full families in mind. He wanted to showcase a bed in every room versus making one into an office like we often like to feather in. Unlike other model home communities, a lot of their deals are made and signed in the living room of these models so it was important to make sure there was plenty of seating and room for conversation!
Q: Tell me about a certain space or room that you loved designing/installing most.
A: Sometimes your biggest risks and “oh my gosh, we hope that comes out as cute as we think it is in our heads!” are the rooms that end up turning out the best. For example, the chevron wall detail in the Navy/Raspberry master bedroom with the deer art layered above or the daybed situation in the Black/White/Cognac. Hellooo beautiful!
Q: Tell me about a design obstacle that you overcame to make the project a success.
A: When installing a model, you never know how many accessories and window treatments you’re truly going to need. You think you’ve got it covered and you get in there only to say to yourself, we need to go shopping! Well, in Dayton, Nevada, there aren’t a TON of options to choose from. Actually none at all! We tripped over to Carson City thirty minutes away and tapped into every resource we could find! Luckily, we’ve done this a time or two and as you can see, they came out amazing. 😊
Q: What do you think your clients will most look forward to in their new space?
A: The builder and real estate agent already gave us a big thumbs up before we even left. We just can’t wait to also hear how much the potential buyers love it and how much inspiration they can draw from the spaces to truly make their new home their own!
We are grateful for partners like Elliott Homes that allow us to illustrate just why everyone deserves great design. We would love to hear what you think, especially if you visit Granite Pointe in person.
