While we had wonderful Napa tours, purchased wine and made friends at Pride Mountain Vineyard, Peju, Whitehall Lane and Sequoia Grove, our favorite stop was for lunch at Market in St.Helena. It was a number one pick for not only the incredible food, but the people too—Roman Flores, especially. In 2008, Roman joined the Market team as a business partner and has been making patrons feel at home ever since. We ordered wonderful dishes of Chopped Salad {I have never loved eating veggies so much} and Veggie Burgers and Roman brought over the Market’s famous Macaroni and Cheese—heavenly! Roman chatted with us extensively while making sure everyone else was tended to as well, holding the door open for every person who entered and exited the establishment.
Just down the street you will find my “must visit” shop spot in St.Helena. Laura Rombauer opened Vintage Home in January of 2003 –it is a testament to the classic California Wine Country style. Antique French grape picking backpacks, vintage wine bottles, artisanal ceramic tableware and luxurious table linens are just a few of the items that customers come far and wide to find. Many of Vintage Home’s offerings are directly imported from the finest studios and artisanal companies from all over Europe. Always changing, seasonally inspired, Vintage Home is a one-of-a-kind, true destination shopping experience. The exterior of the store is so inviting and the goodies inside will make you want to re-do your entire home!
As soon as you enter the store, you are greeted by English hand-made etched glass wine carafes by William Yeoward—so fresh!
This Lafco candle of Sage and Walnut is my candle for the new year. And I was able to find other great candles and Pendelton paid napkins to dress my table over the holiday.
Check back with me on Saturday, where I have one more stop to share that just may help kick off your new year right!
