A couple of months ago, I had the privilege to meet Adi Tatarko and Alon Cohen, Founders, and Liza Hausman, Vice President of Marketing, for Houzz. While I have connected with the team in the past as a contributor to the website, it was even more amazing to meet the brains behind one of the country’s most prominent design websites in person, and over dinner no less. We gathered at the website’s home base in Palo Alto, California with key builders, architects, landscape designers and interior designers. We had a lovely collaborative conversation that helped the professionals of the site understand the vision of the founders and the founders understand the needs of the professionals.

According to the website, Houzz is the leading online platform for home remodeling and design, providing people with everything they need to improve their homes from start to finish – online or from a mobile device. From decorating a room to building a custom home, Houzz connects millions of homeowners, home design enthusiasts and home improvement professionals across the country and around the world. With the largest residential design database in the world and a vibrant community powered by social tools, Houzz is the easiest way for people to get the design inspiration, project advice, product information and professional reviews they need to help turn ideas into reality.
The next morning, the same crew met at Houzz headquarters to discuss our success stories on camera. Our stories as professionals would be used to help other professionals understand how the site can be beneficial to the marketing of their business. Just like the vibe of the approachable website, we were welcomed with beautiful hospitality!
I even received a pair of “Houzz slippers” from Annie Nozawa, Houzz Marketing Manager. We also enjoyed a hair and make-up session prior to our shoot—what designer wouldn’t appreciate that!?!
The end result provided a lovely video that has just been completed for the design professional community.
