BOLD Summit 2015 Wrap-Up

We’ve been busy here at KKDL, but not busy enough to forget to tell you about our experience at the 2015 BOLD Summit! We were thrilled to be invited by our good friend Patty Dominguez with Cosentino to the luxury design event of the year. The BOLD Summit is a 2-day conference specializing in elevated architecture, interior design, and designer landscape. From business advice to trend spotting, the BOLD Summit offers a deeper dig into the design business. It’s the creme de la creme of the design world and we were able to learn from the best the industry has to offer. In between keynote lectures and panel Q&A’s we made a few new friends that we are excited to work with in the (near) future! Our KKDL team quickly hit it off with Mitch Slater of Brown Jordan Outdoor Living, a premier manufacturer in outdoor cabinetry, and Jim Ginocchi of the esteemed Coyote Outdoor Living, a specialist in all things outdoor (especially awesome grills). 

While networking with some of the design industry’s most recognized names, we were able to sneak in a few keynote lectures that left us undoubtedly inspired and ready to kick off summer.

The always-inspiring Kelly Hoppen was presented with a 2015 BOLD Master Award and delivered a well executed and thoughtful presentation on her ideas and successes. With 39 years’ experience in the industry, she knows a thing or two about great design.What really inspired us was her design philosophy and the clarity of her day-to-day business endeavors. While making her way around the world, serving clients’ homes, yachts and jets, she found the time to write NINE books. If that isn’t motivation, I don’t know what is! 

Joan Behnke was another recipient of a 2015 BOLD Master Award and delivered an equally riveting keynote speech. We’ve always admired the sincerity and the thoughtfulness behind her designs and were so impressed by her ability to weave self-expression into all of her projects. Our favorite part about her design process is her ability to connect her projects and work to family and friends (a difficult feat in a demanding industry). With commercial achievements like the famous Costa Smeralda, Hotel Pitrizza and Hotel Romazzino in Porto Cervo, Sardegna, Joan is a truly inspirational designer that has paved the way for designers and industry professionals in and around her community.

Last, but certainly not least, we were graced by the presence of the extraordinary Martyn Lawrence Bullard, a mover and shaker in the interior design world. A multi-award-winning L.A. based designer, Martyn is a force to be reckoned with. He counts Tommy Hilfiger, Edward Norton, and Eva Mendes as just some of his clients, among many, many others. With international accomplishments and extensive product lines, we know that we’ll be seeing a lot more of Martyn’s sophisticated and inviting design.
