It’s that time again- trend watching time. While 2015’s trends have come and gone, KKDL is on the hunt to discover and relay the newest trends for the 2016 season. We start our journey with the Vibrantly Vivid trend. While modern interiors have us itching for color, Vibrantly Vivid scratches our itch with splashes of bright and fun colors. From pops of yellow to shades of green, we’re ready to jump into the ocean of color that is our newest trend.
Easily attainable, Vibrantly Vivid focuses on playing with patterns and textures in an array of colors and shades to create a unique and, well, vibrant living space. Adopt this trend by adding a brightly colored lacquer grill to your outdoor kitchen or an effervescent wallpaper to your bathroom to inspire both yourself and your home to live a little.
The color palette is refreshing– think cool and upbeat. While 2015 saw a lot of stark black and whites, neutral patterns, and hard texture, we can look forward to a punch of color this coming year. The best part about this style is its ease of entrance into your home/office/celebrity jet. Say you went sleek and chic with the tiling and hardwood. It’s perfectly acceptable– nay, encouraged, to add a bright contrasting piece of art to your otherwise colorless walls. Need some more sunshine? Pump up the volume with prettily patterned pillows (say that three times fast) or a refreshingly vibrant throw on the sofa.
Now for a few words of discouragement. Color is fun, chaos is not. And while they are close relatives, they aren’t twins. Keep the color contained to a few rooms in the house or go all out in a single space. While you might have a craving to literally paint the town red, tone it down with creamy paint colors and less saturation. The 2:1 rule works perfectly when you get the itch to splash fuchsia paint across your walls. Two mild pieces of decor for every one vibrant style choice.
See? That wasn’t so bad.
