It’s holiday home tour season! We’re so fortunate to have been chosen to help design not one, but TWO homes for the annual Sacred Heart Holiday Home Tour in Sacramento. The months of November and December have been cheerily chaotic to say the least. From meeting our homeowners, to gathering inspiration, and now installing the finished products, we’re so proud to be able to represent East Sacramento and show off the holiday magic that truly occurs this time of year.
The Sacred Heart Holiday Home Tour is one of the area’s most anticipated events of the year. East Sacramento is a beautiful and historic neighborhood, home to gorgeously manicured front yards and tree-lined estates, and boasts old-world charm with a twist of modern love. The folks at the Sacred Heart Parish state it best:
One of Northern California’s most loved holiday home tours returns this December with five elegantly decorated homes in East Sacramento’s historic Fabulous Forties neighborhood.
For 42 years, this popular tour has grown to include approximately 4,000 patrons from all over Northern California and beyond. The homes showcase elaborate renovation while preserving historic detail, custom interior design and creative holiday decor that is sure to ignite the spirit of the season. Homes on the tour this year range in style from a charming brick Tudor to a newly renovated East Sac estate.
This year we helped design two homes for the tour, a sprawling Colonial estate and a contemporary prairie-style home. We drew inspiration from the families, their own traditions, and the trends we’ve seen in 2015 to create two unique themes for each of the family homes.
Merry-Time Christmas
This contemporary Prairie-style home, recently updated with exterior shades of charcoal, features true hand-hewn craftsmanship. A perfect reflection of Arts and Crafts, the sturdy materials and wood detailing embody the homeowner’s love of their Tahoe escape. Even during the holidays, those who reside here show no signs of slowing down. Their active and sporty lifestyle, combined with the unique architecture of the home, inspired Kerrie Kelly Design Lab for the Sacred Heart Home Tour.
“Merry-Time Christmas”, a play on the family’s love for all things maritime, embraces the family’s everyday lifestyle complete with a regatta themed interior. Home to two very active boys, the interior design shows off the clan’s love for the great outdoors, specifically water sports. Kerrie and team played off of the family’s already existing elements including French dining decor and bold primary colors to give the home a lakeside spin.
We “Wish” You a Merry Christmas
A sprawling Colonial-style estate, the Johnson home boasts an open entry way full of historic detail. Having recently renovated, the home’s family unearthed historic treasures dating back to the early 1900s showcasing their home as a model for the new development on 43rd Street in East Sacramento. The 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath houses beautiful European-style décor with a dignified blue and white color palette drifting through each room. Elegant and warm, the estate serves as a symbol of merriment in the Fab Forties neighborhood.
Decorated throughout with luscious greenery and ripe pomegranates, this classic home is something to behold. Cascading pine nettles, mannerly textiles and delicate wishbone ornaments are scattered throughout the residence, Kerrie Kelly Design Lab’s wink to “wishing” you a Merry Christmas. A holiday home tour wouldn’t be complete without a delicious s’mores dessert bar on the back patio, a space occupying shimmery lights and richly detailed design. Like a storybook Christmas illustration, this remarkable residence is the epitome of a winter celebration.
We can’t wait to unveil the finished product for both homes! Stay tuned for more pictures and insight into this year’s Sacred Heart Holiday Home Tour. Happy Holidays!
