The KKDL team designed this beautiful kitchen and dining nook for the Long Family. Kasey answers our Dressed Nest questions below!
What was the inspiration for the style of the home?
On the list was clean, light, bright and white — we can definitely do that! Enter our favorite marble, matte subway tile, and light wood tones and we have one beautiful kitchen!
What was the client’s biggest ‘ask’?
They needed to update their space mostly with finishes and fixtures (not too many space layout options in a galley kitchen!). They really wanted it to feel bigger, brighter and a place they wanted to entertain in. All white cabinetry, beautiful brass hardware, stainless steel appliances and a little contrast to balance it all out and voila!
Tell me about a design obstacle that you overcame to make the project a success.
Working with a long and narrow galley kitchen, we wanted to ensure the new space felt as big as possible while still keeping the original footprint. Finding space for a large dining table with lots of seating also proved to be quite a challenge — one that we were happy to accept!
Tell me about a certain space or room that you loved designing/installing most.
We absolutely love the custom hood and the perfect banquet situation! The color and texture of the pillows combined with the dramatic black of the hood adds just the right amount of contrast to this light and bright kitchen.
What do you think your clients will most look forward to in their new space?
Our clients love hosting friends and family and we know they can’t wait to take advantage of their new space and that cozy corner that is perfect for sharing a glass of wine and a few cheese plates in!
