Whew! What a whirlwind this Spring’s High Point Market was—so good we actually are rating it the BEST in our seven years of attending! Was it reconnecting with our brand partners and friends? Taking 30 designers on a Design on High Point #SuiteSpotTour? Designing, installing and celebrating our Alden Parkes Showhouse in a Showroom with Replacements Ltd, GO Home Ltd, Wendover Art Group, Wildcat Territory and Sweet and Crafty? Presenting on “How to Manage Your and Your Client’s Ego” with seven other design talents? Taking over the Instagram accounts of Design on High Point and Alden Parkes? Or sneaking in a jaunt to Charleston with our chef friend? The answer—“Hell, YES” to all of it!
Alden Parkes Showhouse in a Showroom
This market season Alden Parkes invited marketgoers to see its furniture interpreted through the eyes of seven of the interior design world’s freshest talents. Launched at the Fall 2018 High Point Market, the ‘Showhouse in a Showroom’ concept challenged interior designers to create settings for and inspired by Alden Parkes’ beautifully crafted case goods and upholstered furniture.
“We loved the energy the showhouse brought to the showroom last Market,” says Alden Parkes CEO, Lynne McArdle. “It’s exciting to see how our products and designs can work with a designer’s individual vision and style. People take so much inspiration from the wonderful showhouses that are put on every year around the country, and we are proud to bring that spirit of transformation to the High Point Market.” And this year took this next level.
For Spring Market, the designers had plenty to work within the extensive Alden Parkes line of case goods and upholstered furniture. The Jacksonville, Florida-based company is known for its use of exotic woods, carved details, and striking artisanal finishes. In addition to the Alden Parkes line, the designers had access to products from partner companies, including rugs from Capa Home, bedding from Wildcat Territory, and tabletop products and accessories from Replacements, Ltd.
“Each of our designer partners has a very different point of view,” says McArdle. “Once again we get to see how leading design talents interpret our products in their own individual spaces.” The six participating design firms included our team at Kerrie Kelly Design Lab, Lisa Kahn Designs, Shayla Copas Interiors, Rajni Alex Design, Keia McSwain with Kimberly + Cameron Interiors and Jeremy Bauer and Jason Clifton of Bauer/Clifton Interiors.
We were thrilled to incorporate our licensed partners at GO Home, our go-to artwork resource at Wendover Art Group and our local flavor from Sweet & Crafty.
Some of our favorite experiences at Market
Suite Spot Tour
Designers, bloggers and social media maestros not only have their finger on the pulse of what is hot today, they influence consumer demand tomorrow. We provided 30 fab designers with a first-hand look at what we as trendspotters think is hot at High Point Market this spring. It was so special to spend an hour on an intimate guided tour sharing our favorites with all new design friends. Want more? Check out our Vendor Spotlight post.
Design on High Point Market Instagram Takeover
It’s always an honor to share the things that are inspiring us in design with Instagram takeovers. We had the pleasure of being a tastemaker for another year! Head to the @DesignOnHPMkt Instagram account to catch the rest of our favorites and why we love them.
A Jaunt to Charleston
Charleston sure is charming, and we’re so thrilled we had the chance to spend a couple of days in the city. Want more? See our Designer Escape post with our recommendations.
Alden Parkes “Managing Your Client and Your Ego” Panel
When providing luxury design services for clients, how do you strike that balance between fulfilling their needs and yours? We got together with the Alden Parkes “Showhouse in a Showroom” designers to discuss best communication strategies for a win-win outcome, so designers stay in charge and get the press-worthy portfolio piece needed while giving the client everything beyond their dreams. This was beautifully moderated by Jane Dagmi, Editor in Chief of Designers Today.
By now you can tell why this High Point Market was a #KKDL team favorite.
To all of our designer friends, partners, and industry elites, it was such a pleasure to spend time with you this season.
We’ll see you in the fall!
