Located in panoramic view of the three branches of Lake Como, Ristorante La Punta is a charming eatery surrounded by a colorful garden in Bellagio. It is an ideal place for romantic dinners or light lunches in the picturesque setting of the central part of the lake. Classic Italian dishes are prepared by chef Massimo Fantoni. His specialties include dishes with fresh fish caught directly by the owners—a tradition that has gone on for generations.
We took the ferry from Como to Bellagio and were ready for luncheon—even before shopping. The ride there was beautiful and when we disembarked the ferry, we decided to scout out the town instead of jumping at the first café. Up a hill and to the right, we saw a sign directing us down a winding street that read “La Punta”. Even though we don’t speak Italian, we knew that meant “the point” and must have a view at the end of the road.
We trekked down the road and once we passed a darling red mailbox, we found steps down to a gorgeous view and enchanting restaurant. We immediately perched on the patio and ordered a glass of wine until our other Italian delights arrived.
Craving fresh veggies we started our luncheon with Tricolore Salad—fresh, bright and crisp.
Vincent ordered the Baked Lasagne with Tomato and Meat Sauce and I tried the Trenette Pasta with Pesto.
For dessert we indulged in Strawberries with Vanilla Gelato.
What a perfect way to start our tour of Bellagio—with every detail having thoughtfulness behind it—down to the presentation of our bill. Molto Buono!
