Just in time for the holiday season, we’re recapping one of our favorite decorated homes to date! This year, we were honored to contribute to the Sacred Heart Home Tour by creating a Christmas scene in this East Sacramento bungalow.
This craftsman bungalow is the epitome of the Fabulous 40’s neighborhood, loaded with charming design details and livable accents throughout.
Kerrie Kelly, Founder of Kerrie Kelly Design Lab, wanted to showcase he living room, dining room, kitchen, and backyard, decorating with emphasis the outdoor spaces that complement the interior of the home. “Vintage lights illuminated the front porch where red Adirondack chairs and ‘Welcome to East Sac’ pillows expressed the family’s love of the neighborhood and served as inspiration as you walk to the front door,” Kelly explained.
While the backdrop featured white walls and Benjamin Moore’s ‘Almost Black’ in the dining room, plaid on plaid on plaid created the palette for design details and accessories. The living room featured a black and white presentation while the dining room and kitchen gave nod to classic Christmas tones in red and green.
“Custom stockings, curated bookcases merchandised by color, the dining room full of family mementos, and a dog friendly nook are spotlighted, making the space feel even more homey.”
Approachability and an inviting feeling tied the rooms together. Nothing was too fussy or fancy. Everything displayed featured design elements and arrangements that many could do in their own home.
Florist designed arrangements could easily be put together from greenery in your own backyard and roses from the grocery store. Switching out the pillows in plaid patterns instantly creates a festive holiday feel.
Kerrie’s favorite designer tip? “Don’t forget your outdoor space when decorating for the holidays. A simple arrangement, garland, wreath, or twinkle lights can carry the theme through regardless of the weather.”
