Sponsored by Mega Western Sales, our rep Rachel MacLachlan treated us to a few whirlwind days at the Delta Faucet Headquarters in Carmel, Indiana where we explored the latest and greatest in kitchen and bath design with a behind-the-scenes look into the design process, technology, product research, testing and trends.
Following along as we learned more about Brizo’s story, we used #discoverdfc to keep in touch with other designers and learn more about the Brizo community.
Did You Know?
- Brizo is a trade-exclusive luxury brand for those whose sense of fashion permeates their entire lifestyle.
- Delta is the flagship brand offering on-trend designs with meaningful innovations.
- Peerless brings together design and affordability in ways that are unique to the industry.
As we toured their headquarters, we discovered that the designers work anywhere from 18-months to two years on a single collection of faucets from conception to launch. They have the ability to 3-D print in-house which allows them to print multiple options and refine until it’s absolutely perfect—in quick 2-day turn arounds! In one collection, they may print up to twelve prototypes that get narrowed down into five that then get chrome plated so they look like actual faucets. From there, they continue to work through the design process or let designers give feedback on what they’re seeing in their projects and how it could be improved.
If they start with 100 designs, only one will make it to market. They do extensive field research and are incredibly thoughtful when designing new products to ensure that the consumer is getting the best quality and performance possible—we loved hearing their stories that explained how considerate and attentive they are to their work! In addition to all product research, Delta’s new headquarters house all of their testing, such as water pressure, package testing, and testing the life of the product. Almost all of their products exceed the industry standards by two to three times and being able to see all of that in action validated their quality standards.
New Introductions
Shield spray: An amazing, new (patented) technology that allows a steady, pinpointed stream of pressurized water to clean effectively while another wall of water creates a “shield” around it so you don’t ever have to worry about soaking the front of your clothes while washing dishes. Game changer!
Touch2O Faucets: When compared to other industry brands, this gets our vote every time! With instant on/off responses to your hand (arm, elbow, forearm, nose—you get the point!), there’s no hassle trying to figure out where to wave your hand and have it turn on when your hands are messy.
H2O Kinetic showerheads: An incredible patented technology that gives 3x the water coverage, retains heat longer, and actually uses less water than a normal shower head all because of the way they’ve designed the water to move through the shower head. And it’s self-cleaning! Sign us up!
The Brizo Litze Kitchen Collection: (Litze like pizza) will be coming out in quarter 4 this year. It’s a beautiful collection of 6 different kitchen faucet styles with multiple and split finishes with matte black/chrome and matte black/luxe gold. We can’t wait for it to be available! If you’re itching for it sooner, the Litze Bath Collection is already out!
Work and Play
In addition to our daily design doses, we had dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse the first evening in a private upstairs room. They hosted a mixology event during dinner and randomly selected a few designers to make cocktails—Lori being one of them! We learned how to make four different cocktails and got our own taster of each. At the end of the event, we each received a Moscow mule kit for making our own! The next evening, we were treated to a private dinner at The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts, followed by box seats to the Sheryl Crow concert. We had such a great time exploring all that Delta had to offer and can’t wait to continue specifying their latest products!
