Indigo is a color that knows no borders and has many different moods. The shades of blue strewn throughout this home were inspired by denim — the most American of fabrics — and how it fades and becomes even softer and more beautiful over time. There are many shades of blue here, but the interesting thing is how they all work together so naturally. The rooms feel as casual and practical as denim itself. It’s about easy living and the kind of good, simple things that only get better as they get older.
Q: What was the inspiration for the style of the home?
A: When we were deciding on the “themes” for each model, we wanted to take inspiration from the location. Gum Ranch was once farming land and we felt it was only appropriate to give nod to that in these homes. Our favorite in particular – our Denim model – kind of like those jeans you see on farms all day long! We love the mixture of warm woods, denim blues and layered neutrals.
Q: What was the client’s biggest ‘ask’?
A: The biggest ask here was to make these homes look and feel “lived in”. We made sure there were plenty of conversation areas, room to cuddle up on the sofa for a movie or good book and of course, entertaining opportunities everywhere! We also included lots of pillows, books and accessories galore. You won’t find any area untouched here!
Q: Tell me about a certain space or room that you loved designing/installing most.
A: We loved designing this entire home. From selecting the blue chevron backsplash to mix and matching pillows on the sofas to setting up the music and game loft – this home truly takes the cake. Every time we walk back in here, we get that warm fuzzy feeling all over again!
Q: Tell me about a design obstacle that you overcame to make the project a success.
A: The “formal” living room in this home has us stumped for a minute. We wanted to do something different but still inviting and relaxing. The room has a large opening at one end, a garage entry on the other and windows on the two opposing walls. How do we set this up? Well, we figured it out and it involved pretty much two of everything! Two sectionals, two coffee tables, a couple of poufs and voila! We have a beautiful -and fun- formal living room.
Q: What do you think your clients will most look forward to in their new space?
A: We think when potential buyers walk in, they will appreciate the extra island seating, the numerous opportunities for comfortable seating and check out the added layer of those wood beams! With two living rooms, game room, office, foosball table on the top balcony and firepit downstairs – what more could a family want!
