Last month I had the pleasure of joining the West Elm team at the celebration of Sacramento’s newest West Elm store at the Ice Blocks. As a designer, I was given behind the scenes access prior to the store’s grand opening to soak in the new shop, layout, services and items being featured in the new store.
West Elm, the trendy home furnishing retailer shines in its 10,992 square feet on the ground floor of the Ice Blocks Shops. West Elm is focused on the intersection of modern design, affordability, and community. Everything the company sells — from sofas and tables to bedding and vases—is made with one goal in mind: to help its customers express their personal style at home and in the world.
One of my favorite areas of the store highlights the chain’s Sacramento and California local love for artisans in the area. The display features work for sale by those in the community and have the ability to grow over time. Sales the night of the tour and grand opening party benefitted the Verge Center for the Arts.
